Camila Coelho

Dr. Camila Coelho is the Biomedical Laureate Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she leads cutting-edge research on human B cell responses to vaccines and emerging infections. After training in Brazil with Dr. Ana Paula Fernandes (UFMG), she worked under supervision of Steven Singer (Georgetown), Patrick Duffy (NIAID/NIH), and Shane Crotty (La Jolla Institute), focusing on B cell immunity. Since establishing her lab over two years ago, Dr. Coelho has made impactful discoveries on antibody responses to emerging pathogens, such as mpox, earning recognition as a rising leader in the Immunology of Infectious Diseases. She holds multiple patent submissions, serves as a reviewer for leading journals and funding agencies, and sits on the U.S. Department of Defense Steering Committee for Emerging Infectious Diseases. A committed advocate for diversity, Dr. Coelho mentors underrepresented trainees and actively works to build a more inclusive scientific community.
