Theresa TH Nguyen 16th Lorne Infection and Immunity 2026

Theresa TH Nguyen

Theresa Nguyen is a PhD candidate in the Department of Immunology at Monash University, under the supervision of Dr Malcolm Starkey. Her research focuses on understanding host–pathogen interactions that underpin chronic and recurrent urinary tract infections, with the goal of identifying biomarkers and mechanistic pathways that can improve diagnostic precision and inform targeted treatment strategies. Theresa’s work integrates high‑throughput multi‑omics platforms with computational analysis alongside classical immunology and microbiology techniques to uncover drivers of persistent infection and immune dysregulation. Her work has been recognised with a competitive Seed Grant from the Bladder & Kidney Health Discovery Program and the 2025 Australian and New Zealand Society for Immunology Postgraduate Travel Award. Theresa has presented at multiple national symposia, receiving awards such as Best ECR Oral Presentation (Monash Translational Immunology Symposium 2025), Best Flash Talk (ImmuMon 2025), and Best ECR Poster (Bladder & Kidney Health Symposium 2025).
