Carla Proietti
Dr. Carla Proietti is a systems immunologist specialising in infectious and immune-mediated diseases, with a translational focus on biomarker discovery and vaccine development. Her research integrates high-throughput omics, protein microarrays, and AI-driven analytics to dissect host–pathogen interactions in conditions such as Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) infection, malaria, tuberculosis, and multiple sclerosis (MS). She leads proteome-wide immune profiling studies to define diagnostic and prognostic antibody signatures, aiming to identify early markers of disease risk and immune targets for therapeutic intervention. Her recent work has identified distinct EBV-specific immune signatures—including novel viral antigens—that differentiate acute from latent infection and are associated with chronic immune-mediated conditions, revealing potential links between early EBV responses and long-term disease risk.
